Valium is a medication that is prescribed to help patients that struggle with anxiety, seizures and muscle spasms. It can also be used to treat panic attacks and for patients that suffer with irritable bowel syndrome. How To Use Valium (Diazepam) Valium (Diazepam) is a tablet that comes as an extended release tablet and with liquid that is concentrated. Never crush or chew the tablets. Read the prescription label before using it and ask the doctor if you have any questions. Valium (Diazepam) is prescribed to be used at least once per day but can be used up to four times per day and patients can have without food or with food depending on if they have a stomach that is sensitive. If patients get the Valium (Diazepam) in a liquid there is a dropper that is there for patients to use. Patients should use the dropper that is in the liquid. If drinking with juice make sure that the juice is diluted. Patients with very sensitive stomachs or that might not like the taste can have some pudding or applesauce before they have it to help with being able to take it. Side Effects for Valium (Diazepam) Include But Not Limited To: - Drowsiness - Dry Mouth - Tiredness - Nausea - Changes in the appetite - Dizziness - Decreases or changes with the sex drive When a person is having these side effects or if they feel abnormal or different in any way when using Valium (Diazepam) then they should contact the doctor immediately. The doctor should know ahead of time if a patient is about to become pregnant, breast feeding or either pregnant. Before using Valium (Diazepam) the doctor should also know if the patient is on any medications or if the patient is taking any herbal supplements. Some medications and herbal supplements might interact with Valium (Diazepam).
